“Autumn at Planned Parenthood”

I wanted to share with you a poem that ‘came to me’ while we were praying at the local Planned Parenthood during the 40 Days for Life Campaign.  We were all standing under a beautiful tree whose leaves were slowly falling as autumn approaches…

One

by one

floating

fragile

a hint of green

clinging to death’s touch,

the leaves

slip away

fading

falling

as fall overtakes

spring’s generous gift.

It’s only a season, right?

Leaves will return next year

erasing winter, won’t they?

But not this leaf.

This was its time

its life

too brief…

but at least it escaped

winter’s painful freeze,

which its tree has yet to suffer.
