Romance died when Sex took the throne…
By decree Romance was ravaged,
Then hung from the gibbet on display.
In his place Sex took stolen power
Leading the Kingdom to dismay.
It decided that Romance was useless,
too much work to keep alive.
What Sex had in mind was fruitless
All it needed was drive.
Sex decided that bodies mattered,
hearts just got in the way
Anchor stones tying one down
Bearing guilt and dismay.
Pleasure was Its only goal,
Marriage sent away in exile
The Kingdom, Unable to soothe their souls,
Fell apart all the while.
Sex set itself against Romance
Replaced bouquets and sweet nothings
With bawdy songs and revealing thongs
With meaningless gifts and empty diamond rings
Sex shredded all in the Kingdom
But Sex is the face they all saw,
While ’twas Lust as pulled the strings
As they marched into the Maw…
I have a confession to make, I’m not this soft sweet type that turns her eyes from what shames her and hides herself in the face of things terrible. I have a tendency to grab a spear and launch it at my various dragons.
From my heart to yours,
The Hiland Rose
